Its only a month until my friends and I embark on our Grand Tour to Florence. We aim to spend the whole weekend in fashions appropriate to 1810 or slightly earlier. I will continue to post progress with my wardrobe but here are some images of fashion plates which have influenced my dress choices. I spend a lot of time thinking of my character and choose clothes which are to my taste. Details of the event can be found on Facebook at The Jane Austen Society of Florence. Hold on to your bonnets it's going to be a fantastic event

I've not been on here for a while as I have been working on a major project......re-creating the clothes worn by Marie-Louise on her first meeting with Napoleon at Compiegne. The project was directed by Cristina Barreto. Embroidery design was made by Martin Lancaster and Cristina Barreto based on paintings of Marie Louise's original clothes. I was responsible for cutting the court dress, train and redingote. I then worked as part of the team who made all the clothes. The team was Ester Paronetto, Christina Schlesinger, Cristina Barreto, Judith Hillig, Victoria and myself. As well as creating Marie Louise's clothes we also made new redingotes for the event to form part of her household. You can see the wonderful photos by Phil Thomason at

Thank you to everyone in the team.
