Rescued Relic

I found this beautiful net embroidery in a box at an auction. It was extremely fragile but now has a new life as the centre front panel for a new dress. Watch this space for progress!

What a delicate find! I'm looking forward to watching the progress on the new dress. It's lovely to see that pieces, that once have been truly treasured, get a second chance for being admired again.

Beautiful fabric! I'm sure it'll make a gorgeous dress. Do keep us up to date about the progress. What period do you have in mind?

Thanks for your comments. The dress has its premiere at the end of the month. I'll post some pictures in the run up. The design is a cross between Princess Charlotte's pearl embroidered dress which is around 1816 with a 1811 style dress. The dress is open in the front where I'll use this panel piece.

What part of the US are you coming to? We would love to meet you too :D We love having new people, and really good costumers come to our events.

Just beautiful. It is so nice to recycle old materials into new creations. I recently made a decorated ladies' 18thc. straw hat using several flowers and wax 'pearl' buds from 1911!
